Château Terrier du Peuil
is a recently created wine estate, run by Sylvie and Régis
Névéol.
The estate is composed
of two slightly different soils that were both traditionnally dedicated
to vine growing.
Both vineyards used
to be small, independant estates of 5 "journaux". A "journal"
(from the French word "jour" = day) corresponds to 824
acres, which used to be the surface of vineyard that could be tended
to by the winegrower in one working day.
Each soil has the perfect
characteristics required for a specific grape type of the Bordeaux
area. One is planted with cabernet sauvignon, and the other with
merlot.
The engraving on the
label shows the traditional vineyard
hut that still exists on our site, and well the winegrower would
dwell during his working week.
